Thermax Managing Director & CEO, Ashish Bhandari stated that Indonesia is one of the fastest growing countries in the world with significant energy needs. Balancing energy growth with energy sustainability requires technologically sophisticated solutions and this is where Thermax is present.

“Our commitment to Indonesia is more than just words. A few years ago, we invested in a plant that focuses on delivering locally produced products with the philosophy: ‘In Indonesia, for Indonesia, by Indonesians’. The plant now has more than 100 employees,” he explained.
“Last year, we expanded our operations by adding another plant for chemical manufacturing at the same location. Our plans for future growth include expanding operations and creating more job opportunities,” he added.
Thermax develops technology that enables the conversion of biomass into energy, either in the form of steam, electricity, or compressed natural gas (CNG). This technology allows biomass to be used to produce ethanol that can be blended with gasoline, even replacing much of the use of diesel fuel with biodiesel.
“There are other technologies, and Thermax makes some of them, that can convert this biomass into ethanol, which can be blended into gasoline,” he said.
Second, Thermax has technology that harnesses heat from industry in Indonesia into reusable energy.
For example, Thermax has implemented technology that can capture waste heat from palm oil mills and use it for cooling or heating purposes.
“Converting this waste heat, giving it back as energy, is the technology that Thermax plays,” he concluded.
